Your Rights as a Consumer and How We Support Them
At Wide Bay Caravans, we respect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Whether you’re returning a caravan accessory, requesting a repair, or addressing a manufacturing fault—here’s what you need to know.
1. Consumer Guarantees & Your Rights
Under the ACCC guidelines, all caravans, camper trailers, RVs and related products sold by us must meet statutory guarantees of quality and performance
If an item fails due to a major fault—such as water leaks, unsafe structure, or multiple unresolved defects—you may request a repair, replacement or full refund.
For minor faults, we will repair the item. If repair is not possible, you may choose a replacement or refund
2. Change-of-Mind Returns
If you change your mind:
- You have 14 days to return unopened packaging items (such as caravan accessories or spare parts).
- Items must be in new, resalable condition with original packaging and proof of purchase.
- A handling/restocking fee of 20% may apply and you cover return postage costs
3. Faulty or Damaged Items
Refund Process & Warranty Work
If you receive a defective or damaged product:
- Contact us within 2 business days.
- We will evaluate the issue and—if faulty—either repair, replace or refund under manufacturer or supplier obligations.
- Refunds are issued to your original payment method and usually processed within 5–10 business days after approval
4. Caravan Returns & Repairs (Major Issues)
For major defects in caravans or motorhomes:
- We’ll undertake repairs within a reasonable timeframe.
- If unacceptable quality persists, you may choose a replacement or ask for a full refund.
- You can escalate unresolved issues to the ACCC or QCAT if necessary
5. How to Return or Request Service
- Contact our team with proof of purchase and issue details
- We’ll issue a Return Authorisation (RAC) if applicable
- Return products as instructed or bring caravans to our Maryborough workshop
- Confirm approval before shipping or collection
- Once accepted, we process refunds, organise repairs or replacement
6. Additional Notes
- Postal returns: Use tracked delivery—customers bear risk until items reach us.
- Refunds: Exclude shipping costs unless the fault is ours.
- Non-refundable goods: Built‑to‑order caravans or customised items may be exempt from change-of-mind returns.
- These policies supplement, not replace, your legal rights under Australian Consumer Law.
